Geology

The main producing formations at Roan Creek are the Cretaceous Williams Fork and Illes Members of the Mesa Verde Formation which are found at a depth of 2900 ft to 5600 ft in this area.

OXY (USA) has drilled Williams Fork wells to the east of the acreage and they estimate reserves of approximately one million cubic feet per net foot of gas sand. This cumulative is based on production from wells completed by OXY (USA) without the benefit of newer completion practices and is therefore likely to be understated. OXY (USA) has continued to drill the Williams Fork to the east of the acreage and currently has plans to complete and begin production from more than 100 wells it now has behind casing. Chevron is also drilling in the very near vicinity and will begin completing well over 100 wells it has behind pipe this year.

Dejour’s acreage has 200-250 feet of gas sand in the Williams Fork Formation which translates into approximately 0.25 BCF per well if completed using past practices and considerably more using today’s state of the art. The Mancos/Niobrara Formation, below the Williams Fork, has significant further potential of production as seen in Laramie Partners wells SW of Rifle. Those estimated EURs are not yet reported but further drilling is continuing for Mancos targets between Laramie’s and Dejour’s acreage.

Present drilling and completion technologies, including long reach horizontal drilling and multi-stage slick water fracs, assure EURs of 3 to 4 times greater than the well completions in the 1990’s.
