Geology

Rocks with hydrocarbon potential in the project’s lease are members of the Mancos Shale, the Castlegate Sandstone, the Mancos B sandy siltstone, and the Frontier/Niobrara Members. Below those are the Dakota/Cedar Mountain Formations, and the Weber Formation.

Little drilling has been done in this area in recent years with modern technologies. This area is influenced by large structures both to the north and south. This area has relatively moderate dip to the west but the lack of subsurface information on the structural trends leave a great deal of room for investigation and structural trapping. Hydrocarbon shows in all of the prospective horizons supports the potential for positive results in the future.
